Double Chin Treatment in Portsmouth: What £100 of Fat Dissolving Will and Won’t Do

Last updated 9 October 2026 · Southsea, Portsmouth

Gloved fingers checking whether the tissue under a client's chin is fat or loose skin

Most weeks someone sits down in the Southsea clinic, tips their chin up and says a version of the same sentence. I have lost weight, I am doing everything else right, and this bit has not moved.

By the time they get to me they have usually been reading for a while, and what they have read is mostly about machines. Freezing. Ultrasound. Surgery. Page after page of it, and hardly any of it with a price attached.

So this is the plain version. Fat dissolving injections to the chin and jawline are £100 a session at House of Glam HQ, it is the most booked area on my fat dissolving price list, and there are people I turn away from it every month. Every price below is a live booking, because every price here is published, where most Portsmouth clinics quote only after a consultation.

First, is it fat or is it skin?

This is the question that decides everything else, and it is the first thing I check. Sit upright, look straight ahead, and pinch the area under your chin between finger and thumb.

If you can take hold of a soft pad that moves, that is subcutaneous fat, and fat dissolving injections work on exactly that. If there is very little to pinch and what you can see is a slackness along the jaw that appears when you look down, that is skin and muscle laxity, and injections will not help you. They reduce fat. They do not tighten anything.

Plenty of people have some of both, and in that case I will say so and tell you how much of the problem I think I can actually shift. That conversation happens at the start of the appointment, before anything is drawn up, and it is the part I would not skip for anyone.

How to reduce a double chin quickly

Nothing honest is quick. I would rather lose the booking than pretend otherwise.

Fat dissolving does not work in a day or a week. The solution breaks down the walls of the fat cells in the treated pocket, and your body then clears the contents gradually over the following weeks. The area swells first, often noticeably, for seven to ten days. The improvement arrives after that, quietly, and most people notice it when a photograph taken from below stops bothering them.

If you have an event in ten days, this is not the treatment to book for it. You would turn up puffier than you started.

Double chin treatment prices in Portsmouth

Chin and jaw sit in the small area, which is the cheapest thing on the list. The prices below are the whole list, so you can see where the chin falls against the rest.

Area Price
Small area, chin and jawline, 40 minutes £100
Medium area, lower stomach, arms or back rolls £150
Large area, whole stomach, back or thighs £180
Course of three, medium area, two to four weeks apart £350
Standalone consultation, deducted from your treatment £15
The £350 course of three is a medium-area package. There is no published course price for the chin, so chin sessions are booked and paid for one at a time.

Book the small area at £100, or message me on WhatsApp and describe the area first. Klarna spreads a treatment over three monthly payments if you would rather pay that way.

What happens in the £100 appointment

You book the area itself, not a consultation. I assess it at the start of that appointment and there is no separate fee for doing so. If you would rather talk it through before committing, a standalone consultation is £15 on Fresha and comes off your treatment, though it is a short slot and the treatment is then booked in for another day.

The appointment itself runs about forty minutes. Numbing cream goes on first and sits while it works. Then a series of small injections across the pocket with a fine needle, spaced so the solution is spread through the area rather than pooled in one spot. Most people describe a sting as the needle goes in and a warm ache afterwards rather than pain.

You go home with a swollen, tender chin. No alcohol, no hard exercise and no saunas for forty-eight hours. You can work the next day, and most people do, but you will be aware of it.

How many sessions does a double chin take?

Across all areas, most clients need three to six sessions, two to four weeks apart. For the chin specifically, two to four is more typical, because it is a small pocket and it responds well.

I will not sell you a block of sessions up front for this. Book one, see what the area does over the following month, and decide after that. If the first session moves very little, that usually tells us the fullness was never mostly fat, and I would rather we both learn that for £100 than for £400.

Fat dissolving or chin filler? They do opposite jobs

These two get confused constantly, and booking the wrong one is the most common mistake I see people about to make.

Fat dissolving takes volume away from under the jaw. Chin filler adds volume to the front of the chin, projecting it forward so the line from lip to throat lengthens. A chin that sits back can read as a double chin from the side even when there is barely any fat there, and in that case an injection that removes fat does nothing useful.

  Fat dissolving Chin filler
What it does Reduces a fat pocket Adds projection
Price from £100 £130
Sessions 3 to 6 1
When you see it Over several weeks The same day
Reversible No Yes

Chin filler is £130 for 0.5ml and £150 for 1ml, and jawline filler is £160 where the jaw edge itself needs definition. All of it is CE-marked hyaluronic acid, blended with lidocaine, and it can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if you change your mind. Fat dissolving cannot be undone, which is exactly why I assess before I inject.

Some people genuinely need a little of each. If that is you I will say which one I would do first and why, and we will leave a gap before the second.

Is double chin liposuction safe, and how long does chin lipo take?

I do not perform liposuction and I am not going to speak for surgeons about their own procedure. Submental liposuction is surgery. It is done by a surgeon, in a surgical setting, with anaesthetic, and it carries the risks that surgery carries. Those are questions for the surgeon you would be consenting with, and a reputable one will answer them properly rather than in a blog post.

What I can tell you is where the line sits. Injections suit a small, soft, pinchable pocket in someone close to the weight they usually sit at. They are not an alternative to surgery for a large volume of fat, and anyone selling them to you as one is overselling. If what you have described to me is beyond what injections will sensibly do, I will say so and you can take that to a surgeon with clear information rather than a sales pitch.

How much does chin liposuction cost in the UK?

I will not quote you someone else’s surgical fee, because I have no way of standing behind a number I did not set and it would change by clinic and by case anyway. Ask the surgical clinic directly and ask what the quote includes, because follow-up and aftercare are sometimes in and sometimes not.

What I will give you is my number, in full, because that is the whole point of this page. Fat dissolving to the chin and jawline is £100 a session. Nothing is added at the appointment, the assessment is included, and if you book three sessions you pay £100 three times.

Does the fat come back?

The fat cells the solution breaks down in the treated pocket are cleared by your body and do not refill. That is not the same as the area being fixed for life, and I would not let you book thinking it is.

If you gain weight afterwards, the fat cells that remain in the area, and everywhere else, get bigger, and the chin can fill out again. The treatment changes a pocket at one point in time. It does not change what your body does next. Nobody can promise you a result that holds regardless of what happens afterwards, and I am not going to be the first to try.

Do double chin exercises work?

Jaw and neck exercises work the platysma and the muscles around it, in the same way any exercise works a muscle. They do not burn the fat sitting on top of those muscles, because the body does not reduce fat in one spot because you worked the muscle underneath it.

If the fullness under your chin came with general weight gain, losing weight will reduce it, and that answer costs you nothing at all. If the fullness has stayed put while the rest of you changed, that is the pocket injections were made for. Both of those can be true of the same person at different times, which is why the pinch test matters more than the chin exercises you found on a video.

Lemon Bottle carton, a sealed vial of solution and four drawn-up syringes laid out on a sterile sheet at the Southsea clinic

What is actually going in

Lemon Bottle is what I use as standard, and the photograph above is my own tray, drawn up before an appointment. Aqualyx is available instead if you ask for it, but message me before you book so it can be confirmed for your slot rather than discovered on the day.

Either way it is a solution injected into the fat layer, in several small doses across the area, with sterile single-use needles and syringes. Nothing is implanted and nothing is left behind.

What fat dissolving will not do

It is not a weight-loss treatment, and this is the thing people most often arrive expecting. It works on a small defined pocket. It will not change the number on the scales, it will not slim your face overall, and it will not do anything about a jawline that has lost definition through skin laxity rather than fat.

It will not sharpen a jaw edge that is soft because the bone sits back. It will not tighten loose skin, and in someone with a lot of laxity, taking fat out of the area can make the skin look slacker rather than better. That is a real consideration and I will raise it before you book, not after.

When I will tell you no

I turn people away from this treatment regularly, and the reasons are not complicated.

Not in pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Not with liver or kidney disease, an active autoimmune condition, or a known allergy to the ingredients. Adults only, eighteen and over. Tell me your medical history when you book rather than at the door, because it is better for both of us to find out early.

And not if what you want is to lose weight, or if the area is loose skin rather than fat, or if you want it finished in a fortnight. In each of those cases there is an answer, and in two of them the answer is not me.
