The honest problem with pricing fat dissolving is that the number people quote you and the number they end up paying are rarely the same. A single session on a small area is cheap enough that it looks like an easy decision. Nobody needs one session.
I am Natasha, and I do every treatment at House of Glam HQ in Southsea myself. So here is the whole arithmetic: what one session costs, how many sessions this actually takes, what a full course comes to, and the situations where I would tell you not to bother. Every price is published, where most Portsmouth clinics quote only after a consultation.
How much do fat dissolving injections cost in the UK?
Widely enough that the question is almost unanswerable in the abstract, which is why so many clinics answer it with a “from” price and leave the rest until you are sitting down.
Four things move the number: how big the area is, which product is used, how many sessions you need, and whether the consultation is charged on top. Two clinics can both say a small area is a hundred and something and mean completely different totals, because one of them means one session on a chin and the other means the first of four.
The word doing most of the work in this market is “from”. A price written as “from £120” is true if one person somewhere paid £120, and it tells you nothing about what you will pay. It is not dishonest exactly, but it moves the conversation about money to the point where you are already in the chair and it is awkward to leave.

Why the course price is the one that matters
Most clients need three to six sessions, two to four weeks apart, before the change is obvious. On the chin specifically, most people have two to four.
Run that through the prices and you get the real figure. Three medium-area sessions bought one at a time is £450. The course of three is £350. On the chin, four sessions at £100 is £400, and there is no course price on the small area because plenty of people are happy after two.
That is the number to compare when you are ringing round, because a per-session price only tells you half of it. Ask how many sessions they expect for your area, then multiply. Ask it before you book rather than after the first one, when the answer stops being a quote and starts being a commitment.
Do fat dissolving injections work?
On the right problem, yes. The right problem is a small, defined pocket of fat that sits there regardless of what you weigh, in someone who is otherwise roughly where they want to be.
The classic one is under the chin. It is the area I treat most, it is the smallest and cheapest, and it is the one where people notice the difference in photographs first, because that is usually where they noticed the problem.
On the wrong problem, no, and no amount of sessions changes that. If the concern is general body size, this is the wrong treatment and I will say so.
Is Aqualyx like Ozempic?
No, and it is worth being clear about because the two get mentioned in the same breath constantly now.
Fat dissolving injections are injected directly into a specific pocket of fat to break down the cells in that spot. They do nothing anywhere else in your body. The weight-loss medications people are talking about are prescription drugs that work on appetite and on the whole body. They are a different category of thing entirely, and I do not offer them.
If what you actually want is weight loss, fat dissolving is not a scaled-down version of it. It is a different treatment for a different problem, and buying it for the wrong reason is how people end up disappointed at £350.
Does fat come back after fat dissolving injections?
The fat cells treated in that pocket are broken down and cleared, and those particular cells do not come back.
What can happen is that the remaining fat cells in the area, and everywhere else, get bigger if you gain weight afterwards. So the treated area stays proportionally smaller than it was, but it is not sealed off from the rest of you. People who keep their weight roughly steady keep the result. People who do not, see some of it return.
I would rather say that plainly than sell it as permanent and have you feel misled in a year.
Are fat dissolving injections available on the NHS?
No. It is a cosmetic treatment and it is paid for privately, here and everywhere else.
What fat dissolving will not do
It will not tighten skin. If the softness under your chin is loose skin rather than fat, taking fat out from underneath can make it hang more, not less. That is a conversation to have at the consultation, and it is the single most common reason I turn this treatment down.
It is not liposuction. It works on pockets, not volumes, and it works gradually.
It will not do anything in one visit. You will be swollen and tender for a few days and you will not see the point of it yet. The change shows up over weeks, between sessions, which is why booking one and judging it is the worst way to spend £100.
And it will not make a large area small. The large-area price covers a large area of treatment, not a large amount of change.
Who I would say no to
Anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding. Anyone whose real concern is loose skin rather than fat. Anyone who wants it done before an event next week, because the swelling will not have settled and the result will not have arrived.
Anyone whose pocket is genuinely small and who is already close to happy with it, because three sessions and £350 is a lot to spend on a change only you will see.
And anyone who wants it instead of losing weight. I will tell you that at the consultation, and the £15 comes off a different treatment or goes back to being £15 you still have.
What the first appointment involves
A consultation on its own is £15, booked on Fresha and deducted from the treatment if you go ahead. If you book the treatment directly, we do the assessment at the start of that appointment and there is no separate fee.
I look at the area standing and sitting, because a pocket that shows in one position often behaves differently in the other, and I pinch it, because fat moves between the fingers and loose skin does not. That is the check that decides whether this treatment is right for you, and it takes about a minute.
