Is a peel right for you
What a peel will and will not fix
A peel resurfaces the top of the skin and pushes it to renew faster. That helps some things a great deal and other things hardly at all, so this is the honest version before you pick an area and a price.
Congestion, breakouts and the marks left behind
The Jessner is built for this. Salicylic acid clears the pore, lactic acid works on the surface, and most clients see the brown and red marks fade over a course rather than after one peel.
Pigmentation, melasma and sun damage
Usually the BIEN TCA, and usually a course. Melasma is a condition to manage rather than clear, so expect improvement you maintain with daily SPF, not a single fix.
Acne scarring and rough texture
A peel softens shallow, rolling scarring and evens the surface. Deep or ice-pick scarring needs something that works below the surface, which is why microneedling is often the better answer — there is more on that in my guide to peels for acne scars.
Fitzpatrick IV to VI
Peels are done on darker skin, carefully. Deeper peels carry a real risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation, so I assess your skin type first and will start lighter, or say no, rather than take the chance.
You have something on in a fortnight
Plan around the peeling, not through it. A Jessner typically flakes for three to five days, a TCA for five to seven, so book two to three weeks before the day that matters.
When I will tell you to wait
Pregnancy or breastfeeding, an active cold sore or broken skin in the area, recent isotretinoin, or a fresh tan or sunburn. Peels are for adults only, 18 and over.

What happens
From booking to the day the peeling stops
Booking
Pick the peel and the area from the table and book it. There is no patch test for a peel. If you would rather I looked at your skin first, the consultation is £15 on Fresha and comes off the treatment when you go ahead.
In the chair
About 30 minutes, an hour for a full back. I cleanse and prep the area, then apply the solution in layers, watching the skin between each one. Most people describe warmth or a tingle that settles within a minute.
The days after
Tight and slightly pink on day one, then flaking: three to five days after a Jessner, five to seven after a TCA. Do not pick it. SPF every day, no sunbeds, no strong actives until the skin has settled.
The next one
One peel brightens. Pigmentation, congestion and scarring usually need a course of three or six, four to six weeks apart. I will tell you which once I have seen how your skin reacted.

What is a chemical peel and how does it work?
A chemical peel works by applying a carefully selected acid solution to the skin’s surface. The acids dissolve the bonds between dead, damaged skin cells — breaking down the outer layer and triggering the skin to accelerate its natural cell renewal process. As old skin sheds, fresh new cells emerge, collagen production is stimulated and the overall quality of the skin visibly improves. The type and depth of the peel determines the strength of this effect and the associated downtime.
Does a chemical peel hurt?
Most clients experience a tingling or mild warmth during application — not pain. The sensation depends on the peel. A Jessner peel is usually a mild tingle; a TCA peel can feel a little stronger for a minute or two during application, and it passes quickly. Natasha monitors your skin throughout and will adjust accordingly if needed.
What is an AHA peel?
An AHA peel uses alpha hydroxy acids, usually glycolic or lactic, and works right at the surface of the skin. It is the gentlest type of chemical peel, for dullness, rough texture or general brightening rather than anything deeper, and most people have slight pinkness for a few hours and carry on as normal. It is not one of the peels on my menu at the moment: the two I offer are the Jessner, which is the lighter of the two, and the BIEN TCA, and every price is in the table above.
What is a TCA peel?
A TCA (trichloroacetic acid) peel is a medium-depth peel that works through the epidermis rather than just across the surface. The one used here is the BIEN TCA, a 35% bi-phasic formulation that is gentler than most TCA peels while still reaching established pigmentation, sun damage, acne scarring and fine lines. Expect five to seven days of visible peeling. You can book it directly from the price table — your skin is assessed at the start of the appointment, and if a TCA is not the right choice on the day Natasha will say so before anything is applied.
Are chemical peels safe for darker skin tones?
Yes — some peels are suitable for darker skin tones, but the selection is more important. TCA and Jessner peels require more careful assessment for Fitzpatrick IV–VI skin types due to an increased risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Natasha assesses your Fitzpatrick classification at every consultation and will only recommend peels that are safe and appropriate for your specific skin tone.

What is a Jessner peel?
The Jessner peel is a classic combination chemical peel combining salicylic acid (BHA), lactic acid (AHA) and resorcinol. Each ingredient targets a different aspect of skin concern simultaneously — salicylic acid clears congestion, lactic acid brightens and hydrates, and resorcinol acts as a skin-lightening and antiseptic agent. Together they produce a medium-light depth treatment particularly effective for pigmentation, melasma, acne marks and uneven tone. Clients can expect mild to moderate peeling for 3–5 days after treatment.
How many sessions do I need?
This depends on your skin concern. For brightening and glow, a single Jessner peel usually shows a visible difference once the peeling settles. For acne and congestion, a course of 3 Jessner peels spaced 4–6 weeks apart makes the bigger difference. For pigmentation and acne scarring, a course of 6 is usually recommended for progressive results. Courses of 3 and 6 are available for every peel; ask on WhatsApp for the course price.
