Microneedling in the UK has no single price, which is why the question is so hard to answer online. At House of Glam HQ in Southsea it is £80 for a full face session, £120 for face and neck, £170 for face, neck and décolletage, and £120 for the stomach. A course of three is £215 and a course of six is £410.

Search for what microneedling costs and what you mostly get back is a range: a low number, a much higher one, and nothing in between to tell you which of them applies to you. A range commits nobody to anything.
What microneedling costs here, every line of it
Four single sessions and two courses, priced by the area being treated. No consultation needed first, and no quote at the end of an appointment you have already sat through.

Why the course price is the real price
One microneedling session gives you a glow. It is real, it comes from the increase in circulation, and it fades. What you are actually paying for is the slow part: collagen remodelling, smoother texture, softened scarring. That builds over a course.
Results develop over four to six weeks after each session, which is also why the sessions sit four to six weeks apart. So if you are comparing a single-session price against your budget, you are comparing the wrong number. Compare £215 for three, or £410 for six, and ask whether that is worth it to you.
For general skin quality, a single session or a course of three is usually enough. For fine lines and uneven texture, three is the standard. For acne scarring, plan on more. I have written separately about what microneedling for acne scars costs and how many sessions it tends to take.

What you are paying for in that hour
A full appointment runs 35 to 60 minutes. That is a skin assessment, 20 to 30 minutes for the numbing cream to work, 20 to 30 minutes of treatment, then a post-treatment serum and the aftercare conversation. Most people describe the sensation as a mild vibration rather than pain once the cream has taken.
You are also paying for who is holding the device. The person who assesses your skin is the person who treats it and the person you message afterwards, because that is me every time. No junior staff. No handoffs. No rotating team.
If you would rather talk it through before you commit to anything, a standalone consultation is £15 on Fresha and it comes off your treatment if you go ahead. It is not free, and I would rather say so than surprise you.
Is microneedling worth the money?
For acne scarring, uneven texture, enlarged pores and early fine lines, I think it is one of the better-value things on an aesthetics menu. It works mechanically rather than with heat or light, so it suits all skin types and tones, and the price per session is low enough that a full course is actually achievable rather than something you keep meaning to start.
Where I would not spend your money: if you are expecting one session to do it, if you want a visible change before an event a fortnight away, or if what is bothering you is volume loss rather than skin quality. Filler and microneedling do different jobs, and paying for the wrong one is an expensive way to find that out.
What it will not do
- It will not lift or replace lost volume. That is a structural change and needs a different treatment.
- It will not remove deep scarring completely. It reduces and softens it over a course.
- It will not change your skin in a few days. The glow is immediate; the change underneath is not.
- It will not fix active acne. It is a treatment for what acne leaves behind, not for acne itself.
Who microneedling does not suit
Microneedling is not suitable if you have active acne breakouts, rosacea, eczema or psoriasis in the area being treated, an active skin infection, or if you are pregnant. It is also not recommended if you are taking Roaccutane or have taken it recently. I will tell you at the assessment if it is not right for you rather than sell you a course.
The downtime, honestly
Expect redness and mild pinkness, similar to sunburn, settling within 24 to 48 hours. Swelling is rare and minor. Leave retinol, acids, makeup and direct sun alone for 48 hours afterwards. Most people go back to work the next day; a few prefer to book it for a Friday.

How much is 3 sessions of microneedling?
A course of three full-face sessions is £215 at House of Glam HQ, four to six weeks apart, against £240 if you booked three single sessions. Three is the usual starting course for fine lines and texture.
Is two microneedling sessions enough?
Usually not. Two sessions will give you the glow twice and the beginnings of a change in texture, but collagen remodelling is cumulative and three is the minimum I would call a course. Two single face sessions cost £160 and the course of three is £215, so the third session is the cheapest one you will ever buy. If budget is the reason for stopping at two, put the course of three on Klarna at £71.67 a month instead.
Is microneedling actually worth it?
For acne scarring, texture and early fine lines, yes, provided you commit to a course rather than one session. For volume loss it is the wrong treatment and the money is better spent elsewhere.
How long do microneedling results last?
After a full course, results typically last six to twelve months, with maintenance sessions usually needed every nine to twelve months. Visible improvement can take up to six weeks to appear, so it is not a same-day result. I have written more on how long microneedling lasts.
Is 40 too old for microneedling?
No. Collagen production slows with age, which is the reason to stimulate it, not a reason to avoid it. What changes with age is expectation: at 40 or 60 the sensible aim is better texture and tone rather than a structural change.
What is the downside to microneedling?
Two things. It needs a course, so the cost and the calendar both add up. And there is 24 to 48 hours of redness after each session. Neither is a reason to avoid it, but both are reasons to plan it properly.
Do I need a consultation before microneedling?
No. You can book microneedling directly and the assessment happens at the start of that appointment at no extra charge. A standalone consultation is £15 and is deducted from your treatment if you go ahead.
