Can laser remove facial hair permanently?
No, and I would rather say that before you book than after. A full course of six gives permanent hair reduction, typically 80 to 90 per cent, and the hair that does return comes back finer, lighter and slower.
If you want every hair gone for good, that is electrolysis, and it is not something I offer here.
Is laser safe on the face?
Yes. The SMARTDiode is a medical-grade 808nm diode and it is safe across Fitzpatrick skin types I to VI once it is calibrated to your skin at the patch test.
If an IPL clinic has turned you away over your skin tone, this is the technology that treats it safely.
When it will not work
Laser reads the pigment in the hair, so grey, white and very pale blonde facial hair does not respond reliably. I will tell you that at the patch test rather than sell you a course.
Hormonal growth, PCOS included, does respond well, but it needs maintenance sessions after the course. There is more on that just below.

How much does underarm laser cost?
£45 a session, or £216 for the course of six, and that is the whole price. The £15 patch test comes off your first treatment and nothing is added on the day.
Underarm hair is usually dark and coarse, which is exactly what the laser reads, so in my experience it is one of the areas that responds well over a course.
How many sessions does a Brazilian take?
Six, two to four weeks apart, the same as any other area. Only hair in its growing phase responds, and six sessions catches most of the follicles across the cycle. Most clients then book a top-up every 12 to 18 months.
What you get is permanent hair reduction, typically 80 to 90 per cent. It is not a promise of no hair at all, and what does come back is finer and slower.
Why does it look hairier after a session?
In the two or three weeks after a session the treated hairs push out and shed, and while they are on their way out the area can look as though it is growing back. It is not. They fall away, and gentle exfoliation helps them along.
Genuine extra growth after laser is uncommon, and it is one of the things I look for at the patch test and at each session.
Is laser right for you
Who it works for, honestly
Laser finds the pigment in the hair, so how well it works depends on your hair and your skin. This is who gets the most from it, and who I will tell not to book six sessions.
Dark hair, fair to medium skin
The textbook case. The strongest contrast between hair and skin means the most reduction per session and the fewest sessions overall.
Darker skin, Fitzpatrick IV to VI
The 808nm diode is set to your skin type at the patch test. If an IPL clinic turned you away, this is the technology that treats darker skin safely.
PCOS or hormonal growth
Laser manages it far better than shaving, waxing or threading. Because the cause is hormonal, expect maintenance sessions every eight to twelve weeks after the course.
Brazilian or Hollywood
The most-booked areas here: £65 and £85 a session, front to back, with the same practitioner every time.
Your first time, and nervous
The patch test is the whole first visit: skin type, hair colour, a test patch, your questions. You decide after it, not before.
Grey, white or very pale blonde hair
There is not enough pigment for the laser to find, so it will not work well. I will say so at the patch test rather than sell you a course.

IPL is also unsafe on darker skin tones (Fitzpatrick IV–VI) — the SMARTDiode is safe across all skin types.

What hair colours does laser work on?
Laser hair removal targets the melanin pigment in hair, so it works best on dark hair. Black, dark brown and medium brown hair all respond very well. Light brown and dark blonde respond more variably. White, grey and very pale blonde hair lacks the melanin signal needed — these hair types do not respond reliably to laser. Natasha will assess this honestly at your £15 patch test.

A minimum of 6 sessions is recommended for lasting results. Most clients see 80–90% permanent hair reduction after a full course. This is biological — only hairs in the active growth (anagen) phase respond to laser, and 6 sessions spaced 2–4 weeks apart catches the maximum number of follicles across the cycle.
Does laser hair removal hurt?
Most clients describe it as mild warmth or a slight tingling sensation. The medical-grade SMARTDiode has integrated cooling running continuously throughout treatment, which protects the skin surface and reduces most of the sensation. Many clients find it more comfortable than waxing.
What are the side effects and risks of laser hair removal?
Redness and a feeling like mild sunburn for a few hours is the usual response, sometimes with small bumps around the follicles that settle within a day. The risks worth knowing are a temporary change in pigment, lighter or darker patches, and in rare cases a blister or burn. That is why the £15 patch test comes first, why the settings are chosen for your skin type, and why you must not have a tan, real or fake, on the area. Fine facial hair can occasionally grow back thicker in some women with hormonal patterns, and I will talk that through if it applies to you.
