Dermaplaning is a blade held against someone’s face, so the technique has to be automatic before you touch a client. Angle, pressure, how you hold the skin taut, and where you do not go. It is one of the easiest treatments to add to a menu and one of the easiest to do badly.

Three skin courses that work together. Microneedling is £350 and chemical peel training is £350. With basic facials, all four come as Step Into Skin at £799.

What the dermaplaning session covers

  1. 01Skin anatomy and contraindicationsWhat you are removing and what you are not, and the skin conditions that mean you do not treat.
  2. 02Blade handlingAngle, pressure, stroke length, holding skin taut, and working around the areas that catch people out.
  3. 03The full treatment, start to finishPrep, sectioning the face, working order, and finishing so the skin looks the way the client expected.
  4. 04AftercareSun protection, what not to use for a few days, and how often the treatment can be repeated.
  5. 05Consultation, records and hygieneConsent, record keeping, sharps handling, and the questions worth asking before you start.
