People ask me whether facials are worth having regularly or whether one now and then does the job. The honest answer is that it depends on what you want from them. A single facial will leave your skin cleaner and brighter for a week or two. A regular one, every four to six weeks, is what keeps it that way.
What a regular facial actually does
Skin renews itself on a cycle of roughly a month. A facial timed to that cycle lifts the dead cells that have built up, clears the pores that have blocked in between, and puts moisture back in before the skin gets dull and tight. Do that once and you get a few good days. Keep doing it and the baseline improves, because the skin is never left long enough to slip back.
It is also the easiest way to catch things early. Every facial at House of Glam HQ starts with a skin check, and because I do every one myself I notice when something has changed since last time, whether that is a patch of dryness, a run of breakouts or a product that is not agreeing with you.
The facials I offer, and what they cost
There are seven on the menu, and every price is published before you book. Dermaplaning Express is £45 for 30 minutes, the Rejuvenating Facial and the Steam and Extraction Facial are £50 each, Dermaplaning Deluxe and the Ultimate Glow Facial are £65, the Signature Skin Booster Facial is £110, and the Halo Ritual, the longest at 90 minutes, is £115. The facials page has each one described properly, with a booking button for that exact treatment so the price you read is the price you pay.
How often is often enough
For general upkeep, every four to six weeks matches the skin’s own cycle. If you are working on something specific, such as congestion or texture, closer together at first and then spacing them out once the skin has settled is usually the better plan. If you are new to facials, the Rejuvenating Facial at £50 is a sensible place to start, and I will tell you at the first appointment whether a different one would suit you better.
What a facial will not do
A facial works on the surface. It will not rebuild collagen the way a course of microneedling does, and it will not do anything for lines caused by muscle movement. I would rather say that plainly than sell you a facial for a problem it cannot fix. If what is bothering you sits deeper than the surface, the skin check at the start is where we talk about it, and I will point you at the right treatment even when it is not the one you booked.
