The Realistic Timeline From Injection Day to Final Result
Many individuals find themselves mistaken regarding immediate effects, as anti-wrinkle injections do not work instantly. In UK patient guidance, visible smoothing usually starts within 3 to 7 days, with the full result by 10 to 14 days, so the most meaningful comparison point is the 2-week mark rather than treatment day.
What day 1 usually looks like
Straight after treatment, you may see tiny injection bumps. Some mild redness or slight swelling can happen too, and that often settles the same day. This is one reason I don’t treat treatment day as the “after”.
You also need to do your bit. Aftercare matters. I’m strict about it because poor compliance can interfere with how things settle.
What happens over the next several days
By the first few days, don’t panic if very little seems different. That’s normal. The treated muscles are gradually relaxing, which is why softening becomes noticeable around day 3 to 5 rather than straight away.

What Wrinkles It Softens vs What It Can’t Erase
This is the part I’m very honest about in clinic. Anti-wrinkle injections are great for the right job, but they don’t do every job.
They work best on dynamic lines, the ones created by repeated muscle movement. Think forehead lines when you lift your brows, the frown lines between the brows, and crow’s feet that appear when you smile. Those are movement-driven lines, so relaxing the muscle usually softens them well.
Dynamic lines versus static lines
The easiest way to understand it is fabric.
Dynamic lines are like creases that appear while you keep folding the fabric. Stop the movement, and the crease softens. Static lines are more like a crease that’s been pressed in and left there. You can reduce the constant folding, but the mark may still be visible.
So yes, deeper lines that are etched in at rest can improve. But no, they may not disappear entirely.
Areas that usually respond well
The upper face is where anti-wrinkle injections are most commonly used for line softening. That usually means:
- Forehead lines: caused by lifting the brows
- Frown lines: the “11s” between the brows
- Crow’s feet: lines at the outer eye area

Results usually last 3 to 6 months, and that’s one of the biggest expectation points for first-time clients. It isn’t permanent. It wears off gradually, not all at once.
If someone comes in wanting every line fully erased, no movement at all, and a result that lasts indefinitely, I’ll say clearly that anti-wrinkle injections won’t deliver that.
Why I Keep Your Clinical Photos Private
I do take photos for anti-wrinkle treatments. I just don’t use them as public sales material.
For me, these are clinical record photos. They help me assess muscle movement properly, document your baseline, and compare your settled result in a fair way. That only works if the photos are consistent.
How I take them properly
I keep it simple and honest:
- Same angles: front and side views where needed
- Same lighting: because flattering shadows can fake improvement
- Clean skin: makeup-free, so the surface isn’t disguised
- Movement photos as needed: relaxed face, raised brows, frown, smile
That gives us a genuine comparison in consultation and at review. It isn’t there to create a dramatic marketing story.
If a photo is taken with different lighting, a different angle, or a more flattering expression, it stops being a clinical record and starts being advertising.

What I’m checking at review
I’m looking at movement, balance, and whether the result matches the plan we agreed. Sometimes one muscle is stronger than expected. Sometimes one side settles slightly differently. That’s normal facial anatomy, not a disaster.
At review, I assess things like:
- Residual movement: whether an area still has more pull than planned
- Balance across both sides: because faces aren’t perfectly symmetrical to begin with
- How natural it looks in motion: especially in conversation and expression
